Themes
Themes are broad associations that allow Picture Book Database to expand content description. For instance, books can be anthropomorphic (genre) and humorous (theme) OR realistic (genre) and multicultural (theme). We currently have the following themes:
- adventure
- animal (not anthropomorphic)
- environmental
- humorous
- intergenerational
- interpersonal
- multicultural (both fiction and biography)
- spooky (scary)
- sports (both fiction and biography)
- religious
- transportation
Themes are different from subjects in the sense that they are more broad. For example,
- SPORTS will pull up records for football, baseball, soccer, etc. If you are looking for titles about a particular sport, we suggest a subject search.
- MULTICULTURAL will pull up records for African Americans, Mexican (people), Aztecs, etc. If you are looking titles about a certain ethnic group, we suggest a subject search.
