Q: Do you have reading metrics for Lexile and Accelerated Reading?

We will be adding reading metrics by the end of 2011. We are also adding math concepts and poetic forms (e.g. haiku, acrostic, etc.)

Q: It is called "Picture Book Database" but you do you have other types of illustrated books?

A: Yes, we include other illustrated formats, such as picture storybooks, beginning readers, and graphic formats.

Q: Who is this service for?

A: Public librarians, media specialists, educators, researchers, students, and parents will find the database useful.

Q: How many records are in the database?

A: The database features bibliographic information over 21,000 records as of September 2011. We will add 25-50 new records per week. If you see an error or would like to suggest a title/author/publisher, please email us.

Q: Does the database offer access to digital versions of picture books?

A: No. However, many of the titles in the database have preview links to Google Books©. Titles in our database that have previews, will have this image google in the detailed view of the record. This service is intended to help readers locate picture books that suit their needs and conduct picture book research.

Q: Do you plan to add reviews from School Library Journal or Publisher's Weekly?

A: Yes, we do plan to include professional reviews in the future.

Q: Do you include self-published titles?

A: No, we only add titles published by established publishing houses.

Q: Does the Picture Book Database have mass market illustrated series like Little Golden Books© or Little Critter©?

A: The database has Golden Book© titles of significant historical importance. We have many titles by Mercer Mayer in the database, but none of the Little Critter© series. We may include significant Richard Scarry books in the future. We do not include television- or movie-ties (e.g. Blues Clues©, Sesame Street©, Disney©).
